Tom Felton: Potter bosses banned remote controlled car driving

Tom Felton wasn’t allowed to operate a remote controlled car while filming ‘Harry Potter’ in case he steered it into his ankle.

The 27-year-old actor, who portrayed villain Draco Malfoy in the movie series for 10 years from 2001 to 2011, has revealed the film franchise’s bosses were so worried about the stars getting injured before shooting each motion picture they banned them from doing anything potentially dangerous.

He said: "I managed to keep a normal life at school with my mate whiles at the same time working with movie legends.

"The only downside was that I’m an adrenaline junkie, I love bungee jumping and all that. But while we were filming, we were supposed to avoid anything remotely dangerous because there was this great fear you might hurt yourself.

"I wasn’t even supposed to drive a remote controlled car in case I drove it into my ankle. So I don’t miss that."

While the franchise has ended, Tom still gets abuse from fans who think he is a bad guy in real life and recalled once being called a "d**k" by a six-year-old ‘Harry Potter’ fan at a movie premiere in 2011.

He added to Metro newspaper: "At the premiere of ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’, a movie I did, a six year old called me a ‘d**k’. In a way, that’s a badge of honour.

"Some young fans really think I am Draco. Shattering the illusion would be like telling them there’s no Father Christmas.

"If I’m in a cheeky mood, I’m thinking, ‘Shall I tell them…’ "
