Danny Dyer left feeling ‘broken’ by EastEnders schedule

Danny Dyer has been left feeling "broken" because of his intense work schedule.

The 37-year-old actor, who plays Mick Carter on BBC soap opera ‘EastEnders’, was unable to attend a screening of the much-anticipated Christmas special and show bosses have conceded that his gruelling schedule has taken its toll.

Asked about Danny’s absence from the screening, executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins said: "We’ve broken Danny Dyer. He’s at home vomiting. He’s done more episodes in a year than anyone’s ever done."

Danny’s on-screen family will be the focus of attention this Christmas and according to Dominic, it was always the intention to build their storylines to a crescendo over the festive season.

He said: "When we brought the Carters in last Christmas we knew we were going to explode them this Christmas.

"It’s got its origins in Greek tragedy."

But he also conceded that the violent storylines would soon lift, saying it’s tough to "sustain" such intensity over a prolonged period of time.

He admitted: "It’s not all going to be bleak. This is heavy, but you can’t sustain that. There will be joy to come for the Carters, because that’s important."
