Rylan Clark says Celebrity Big Brother was like ‘rehab’

Rylan Clark has likened his time on ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ to "rehab".

The 26-year-old star won the show in January 2013 and it’s been confirmed that he’ll return to host CBB spinoff ‘Bit on the Side’ in January.

However, he’s warned prospective house-mates to think carefully before joining the show, asking: "Do you want the experience? Are you doing it for money? Are you doing it to start a career or are you doing it to end a career? Are you confident enough in yourself as a person to be under a microscope 24 hours a day?

"In Big Brother every single inch of that house is covered. So I treated Big Brother as rehab – it was exactly what I needed.

"I was the most famous man in the country at that point; I needed to be locked up and it was either that or The Priory and I chose Big Brother! It was the best decision I have made in my life. A lot of people go in there at the end of their career. I went in there before I even had one."

Rylan, who finished in fifth place on the ninth series of ‘The X Factor’ in 2012, said he gets annoyed when he hears people complain about their time in the house.

He reflected: "If you don’t enjoy it, don’t do it. It is that simple because the last thing we want is to see people moaning all the time.

"For five minutes it’s funny, but for weeks it’s not. Don’t waste that place for someone else. I would hate it if I’m watching Celebrity Big Brother and people are like, ‘I don’t really want to be here’. You have to be invited and if you’re not invited, you’re not going in. Enjoy it, you’ve been chosen."
