Nicole Kidman starred in ‘Paddington’ for her kids.
The 47-year-old actress – who has adopted children, Isabella Jane, 22 and Connor, 19, with her ex-husband Tom Cruise and two biological daughters, Sunday Rose, six and Faith Margaret, four, with her current spouse Keith Urban – has confessed she took on the role of the villainous Millicent so her younger children could watch her in action.
Speaking at the Australian premiere of ‘Paddington’ in Sydney last night (07.12.14), she said: "I just wanted to make a film for my kids… I hadn’t made a film that had made people feel good for a long time. I’d made films that are darker in tone. So, it’s really nice to be able to make a film where you can say, ‘Yeah, bring your kids’."
The film – which is based upon the series of children’s books by Michael Bond and also stars Colin Firth as the title character – has been well received by critics and audiences but Nicole insists she never expected it to be so successful.
She said: "My whole career is always a roller-coaster. I’m so random and spontaneous and unusual in my choices – I never expect anything."
