Frankie Bridge reveals true extent of her depression

Frankie Bridge is the happiest she’s been since she was a teenager.

The Saturdays singer, who is currently appearing on the BBC reality show ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, admits she was unhappy when the five-piece pop group first got together in 2007, but struggled to acknowledge the problem at the time.

The 25-year-old beauty shared: "When The Saturdays first started I went to the doctor and he said, ‘Maybe you should go and talk to a therapist,’ but I just thought, ‘No, it’s not that much of a problem.’

"So I ignored it, I carried on, and it got worse and worse.

"The hardest thing was I felt so isolated; I couldn’t tell anyone and it was like I had to play two different people all the time. There was the way I really felt, and the way I had to present myself to the world.

"Every time I entered a room I’d take a deep breath and become Frankie from The Saturdays – the one everyone expected me to be."

Frankie, who has a 14-month-old son, Parker, with her husband Wayne Bridge, explained that she’s has learned to manage the issue and is now in a better frame of mind.

She told the Daily Mail newspaper: "One of my doctors described it as like having asthma, it’s always going to be there, you just have to get on top of it. I know I’m going to have it forever but that doesn’t scare me any more.

"It controlled me for so long but now I feel in control. If I start feeling a bit rubbish I chill out, I know how to get on top of it."
