Olly Murs pays himself plumber’s wage

Olly Murs pays himself a plumber’s wage.

The ‘Wrapped Up’ singer is worth an estimated £5 million but pays himself the same salary as his pals after being scared by bankrupt pop stars on the reality television show ‘The Big Reunion’.

He explained: "I’ve given myself a salary recently, because I think it’s important. For the first two years I was like, ‘Yeah I’ll buy that and this. Mum, what do you want? I’ll get it for you.’

"But then you watch shows like ‘The Big Reunion’ and it opens your eyes to realise that this can all go so quickly, and you’ve got to be wise with your money."

The 30-year-old star elaborated by saying he’s thrilled with his life at the moment, so is terrified of losing his treasured possessions and friends.

He said: "My worst fear is losing everything. I’ve bought my own house, I’ve got a lovely car, I’ve got brilliant friends and family. If I lost all that it would be devastating and down to my stupidity."

Olly wants to ensure he stays down to earth and remains close to his friends who he met before finding fame, so hopes his salary will stop him from flashing his cash.

He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "I’ve got mates in different jobs to me, and they’re not on the same amount of money as me. So I don’t want to be like a big time Charlie. I’ve never been that kind of person, I always like us all to be on an equal playing field."
