Mel B’s fairy ‘mini-me’

Mel B has described her ‘Tinker Bell and the Legend of the Neverbeast’ character as a "mini-me".

The 39-year-old television personality "thoroughly enjoyed" voicing the animated fairy Fury because they share the same "attitude".

She explained: "I’m Mel B – Scary Spice – playing Fury, it kind of suits me. She does have attitude my character, it’s like a little mini-me."

Despite their similarities, Mel admitted how she sometimes found it difficult to replicate her feisty cartoon.

Talking in Disney UK’s official YouTube video, Mel said: "You look at a massive screen of your character saying the lines and you try and match your voice to the character … and that may take a few times."

Mel – who has four daughters, Phoenix Chi, 15, from her first marriage to Jimmy Gulzar, seven-year-old Angel Iris from her marriage to Eddie Murphy, and three-year-old Madison with her current husband Stephen Belafonte, who is father to Mel’s step-daughter Giselle, 10 – revealed that the whole family was excited for her new film venture.

She said: "I’ve got four girls. They love Tinker Bell. In fact, they have lots of dress-ups. I’m a huge Disney fan. You name any Disney movie and they’re all good."

The ‘X Factor’ judge even joked about her ITV co-stars Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh, as she mused over which fairy role would suit them best.

Mel said: "If Cheryl was to play a fairy she would be Tinker Bell. I think Simon Cowell would be the one trying to destroy everyone and everything and every land. And Louis would just be the funny one."
