Dan Aykroyd is very selective with the roles he accepts now.
The 62-year-old star has become more picky when deciding what movies he acts in because he wants to spend more time with his wife, Donna Dixon, and three daughters Danielle, Stella and Belle.
He said: "I am much more picky about the movies I do. In the 80s and 90s I was away from my family a lot, so I am trying to make up for that by spending time with them now."
Aykroyd is famed for writing and appearing in ‘Ghostbusters’ and ‘Ghostbusters II’, and was believed to be working on the reboot of the franchise featuring female protagonists, but said he doesn’t write any more because of his wish to withdraw from life as a celebrity.
He added: "As I’ve grown older I’ve become less focused on showbusiness. I am no longer writing and pitching scripts."
However, ‘The Blues Brothers’ writer said he is a huge fan of Melissa McCarthy – who has been attached to the ‘Ghostbusters’ sequel on numerous occasions due to her close working relationship with the film’s director, Paul Feig – which suggests the actress may indeed star in the movie.
He explained: "Comedians today are more thoughtful than we were, and more grounded in real life.
"But I love the younger guys – Jonah Hill, Will Ferrell, Melissa McCarthy. The torch has been passed."
