Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip, celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary with a trip to an RAF base.
The 88-year-old monarch and her 93-year-old husband visited RAF Lossiemouth in Scotland where they were met by members of the public and greeted by the Lord Lieutenant of Moray, Lieutenant Colonel Grenville Johnston.
The monarch and the Duke later unveiled a plaque to honour the base’s new Quick Reaction Alert facility after being honoured by a fly past from a Tornado jet and two Tycoon aircraft, reports HELLO! magazine.
Queen Elizabeth was also gifted a bouquet of flowers from Lennon Gallagher, eight, who had taken the day off school to meet the monarch and was thrilled with her response when he presented her with the flowers.
He said: "I got the day off school to give the Queen flowers.
"She said, ‘Thank you, they’re so beautiful.’"
The trip marked the second time Her Majesty has visited the base, which monitors northern airspace and provides a quick response to any unidentified aircraft.
