Miranda tackles 50 Cent in Spy

Miranda Hart had to tackle 50 Cent to the floor in her new movie ‘Spy’.

The 41-year-old British comedian features in the Paul Feig-directed movie – which is set to be released next year – and has revealed she had to wrestle with the ‘In Da Club’ rapper during her first day of filming.

She explained: "First day on set – I don’t know if I’m allowed to say this but I will anyway – I was on set with 50 Cent, and my first scene was tackling 50 Cent to the ground.

"I was a bit nervous doing that. Hilarious. I thought, ‘What’s happened to my life?’ "

The film is the ‘Miranda’ star’s first major Hollywood production, in which she stars opposite Jason Statham, Jude Law and Rose Byrne, and she plays the buddy of protagonist Susan Cooper, portrayed by Melissa McCarthy.

Discussing the film during an interview on ‘This Morning’, she said: "It is with Paul Feig, he directed ‘Bridesmaids’ and ‘The Heat’, it’s his new movie he wrote it and it’s a spy film."

The movie follows Melissa’s character, who is a deskbound CIA analyst forced to become a secret agent herself in order to infiltrate an arms dealing ring in order to save the world.

Miranda added: "It’s sort of a James Bond film but it’s funny. Not a spoof but Melissa plays a spy and her being a spy is automatically hilarious, and I play her best friend."

The ‘Call The Midwife’ actress also revealed that she felt star-struck when making the movie in Budapest, Hungary, because she is not used to working with such well-known people.

She said: "I was in a room with Jude Law and Melissa McCarthy, this doesn’t happen to people like me. I was a little bit giddy."
