Jay James: I knew it was my ‘time to go’

Jay James knew it was his "time to go" before he was voted off ‘The X Factor’ last night (16.11.14).

The former Royal Navy fitness instructor admits he wasn’t shocked to be sent home after going up against Stevi Ritchie in the sing-off and is feeling positive about his future after the "incredible experience".

He exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I kind of had an instinct it was coming … I genuinely feel really, really positive about the whole thing. In a nutshell, I was gutted to go but at the same time I’ve had an incredible time and an incredible experience."

The 31-year-old wannabe popstar also claimed he was starting to struggle with the pressure of being in the limelight, but insisted he was more than supportive of his fellow contestants.

Speaking about recent reports that branded him a bully, James said: "I’m a massive people person so to hear that complete bulls**t did affect me a little bit because I was like, ‘Hang on, that’s completely not what I’m about’.

"I’ve seen others go through that during my time in the house and I took on a bit of a father role at the house, weirdly, so I saw people go through that and I was the first to shout, ‘Don’t worry about it, it doesn’t mean anything’."

But James admits the rumours added to his feeling that his time on the show was over.

The father-of-one added: "It almost confirmed to me that it might be my time to go now because I’m not down for that sort of stuff, I’m not that type of a person. So yeah, weirdly, it was another little sign to me that I should take the positives and go and do some good things."
