Michael Pattemore has raised £100,000 for Action Against Cancer in honour of his late wife Lynda Bellingham.
Michael returned to the set of ‘Loose Women’, where his late wife used to work as a panellist, to reveal how much money fans of Lynda had been able to raise, after the brave actress lost her battle to colon cancer on October 19, 2014.
Speaking on the ITV show earlier today (17.11.14) an emotional Michael shared: "As you well know we didn’t want flowers, only family flowers and I wanted all the money to be donated to Action Against Cancer, the lovely Professor Justin Stebbing … to this date we’ve raised a hundred grand [£100,000]."
Despite Lynda’s determination to celebrate one final Christmas with her family, she passed away in October, aged 66.
When asked how he planned to spend the first festive season without his wife, Michael replied: "I’m probably going to go away. It’s the one time of a year she loved. We had enough Christmas decorations to do the whole of Regent Street. She loved it."
He then recalled a memorable moment when his late wife decided to fill up their suitcases with Christmas decorations.
Michael shared: "I always remember when she was doing ‘Calendar Girls’, we were up in Harrogate. There was a Christmas shop up there and it was one of the afternoons when she wasn’t doing a matinee. She goes in and buys all this Christmas stuff and I said, ‘How are you going to get that home?’ She said, ‘I’ll put it in the car’. I said, ‘We flew up!’ I then had to buy another suitcase. I said, ‘Where are we going to put it all?’ And she said, ‘But I love it!’"
