Charlotte Hawkins was "blown away" by her surprise pregnancy.
The ‘Good Morning Britain’ television presenter has revealed her joy at discovering that she was expecting her first child with her husband Mark Herbert after years of heartbreak.
Charlotte – who is currently six months pregnant – admitted that the couple had considered having in vitro fertilisation (IVF) before they conceived naturally by complete surprise.
She shared: "Every month, you’re thinking, ‘Is it going to be this month? Is it?’ And this time it was. I was absolutely blown away.
"It took a long while for it to sink in that I was pregnant because we’d been trying for quite some time – years, in fact.
"We’d got to the stage where we thought, ‘Will this happen for us?’ We’d gone through the paperwork to go down the IVF route as we thought it might be the only option left. Even now there’s a big part of me that won’t quite believe it until I have my baby safely in my arms."
The 39-year-old TV host also revealed to HELLO! magazine how she broke the happy news to Mark, 41.
She shared: "My alarm clock goes off at 2.40am for work and I did a test when I woke up – which was such a ridiculous time to do it, but I was going out that evening and I didn’t want to be drinking alcohol if there was a chance.
"I had to wake up Mark and say, ‘I’m really sorry to wake you, I know it’s really early but you’re going to want to hear this … I’m pregnant. I handed over the stick and rushed out the door."
