Britain’s Prince Harry left an emotional handwritten message to fallen soldiers on Remembrance Sunday.
The 30-year-old royal joined British troops in Kandahar, Afghanistan as part of Remembrance Sunday (09.11.14) where he laid down a wreath of poppies, complete with a heartfelt note.
His message read: "There is no greater love then to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. They will never be forgotten. Harry."
The quote comes from a Bible passage from John 15:13.
The full quote reads: "My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
"You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you."
Prince Harry served in Afghanistan as Forward Air Controller in 2007 to 2008 and as an Apache helicopter co-pilot and gunner from 2012 to 2013.
During his trip to Kandahar he spent time with members of his old unit from his 2012 deployment. Prince Harry returned to the UK later that evening.
His visit comes after it was announced that the 300 troops remaining in Afghanistan will return home by the end of the year.
