Keira Knightley ‘can’t imagine’ returning to Pirates of the Caribbean

Keira Knightley "can’t really imagine" returning to the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ franchise.

The British actress achieved worldwide recognition for her performance as Elizabeth Swann in the ever-popular franchise, which features Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom, who recently suggested he’d be keen to appear in another of the movies.

Asked whether she’d be interested in the project, the 29-year-old actress told Digital Spy: "No, I don’t think so.

"It was an amazing point in my life, but it was a good five-year chunk. It was incredible, but I can’t really imagine going back to it."

The eagerly-awaited fifth film in the series, otherwise known as ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales’, is currently in the casting stages, with the likes of Ansel Elgort and George MacKay said to be in contention for the part of the male lead.

Meanwhile, Javier Bardem has been linked with the role of the villain in the new film.

Away from the screen, Keira recently admitted to being "pretty neurotic" until she was 25.

The actress said she used to take herself "far too seriously" and obsessed over the criticism she received, particularly over her looks.

She recalled: "I found it difficult to step back from it and I was taking it very personally. Partly because as an actor you don’t want necessarily that thicker skin, and I couldn’t figure how to be open emotionally and yet get a thick enough skin so that things didn’t hurt."
