Jake Gyllenhaal joins Let it Snow cast

Jake Gyllenhaal has joined the cast of ‘Let it Snow’.

The 33-year-old actor will appear in an adaptation of ‘The Man Who Made it Snow’ alongside his ‘Southpaw’ director Antoine Fuqua.

The novel – which was first published in 1990 – tells the true story of Max Mermelstein, who turned Pablo Escobar’s Medellin drug cartel into a billion-dollar enterprise, before turning his colleagues into the police.

The movie is being directed and produced by Antoine – who previously worked on ‘Olympus Has Fallen’ – and will be the first film created through the 48-year-old movie buff’s Fuqua Films banner since agreeing to a first-look development, production and financing deal with IM Global.

Jake – who has received critical acclaim for his recent role as video journalist Lou Bloom in crime thriller ‘Nightcrawler’ – will also serve as a producer on the film.

He will work alongside IM Global’s Matt Jackson and actor Brett Tabor, who joins the team having written the screenplay with Michael Kingston.

The movie is set to begin filming at the end of 2015, once the ‘Donnie Darko’ actor has finished working on his current project ‘Demolition’, which he’s been filming in New York alongside Chris Cooper and Naomi Watts.
