Taylor Swift named NYC Global Welcome Ambassador

Taylor Swift has been named New York City’s Global Welcome Ambassador.

The 24-year-old singer has joined forces with NYC & Company – the city’s official marketing, tourism and partnership organisation – to encourage people to visit the Big Apple, which inspired her to write her latest hit ‘Welcome to New York’, and explore its five boroughs.

Speaking about Taylor – who moved to New York City earlier this year – Fred Dixon, president and CEO of NYC & Company, said: "New York City is a truly welcoming city, and ‘Welcome to New York’ perfectly exemplifies the unrivalled hospitality, energy and excitement that can be felt throughout all five boroughs.

"We are pleased to work with Taylor Swift to welcome visitors from around the world, as she was welcomed this year, and couldn’t have asked for a better synergy between Taylor and NYC & Company to tell our story about what makes New York City, New York City."

As part of the new initiative, Taylor will see in 2015 by performing on TV show ‘Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest’, which will broadcast live from Times Square on ABC on New Year’s Eve (31.12.14).

Taylor will also feature in videos on website www.nycgo.com in which she will explain what her favourite things to do in the city are. The website will also source content from other people’s experiences in the city if they use the hashtag #W2NY.

The campaign will also be promoted in messaging surrounding the launch of the blonde beauty’s fifth studio album ‘1989’, which was released today (27.10.14).
