Robin Williams’ baseball honour

Robin Williams was honoured by the San Francisco Giants last night (26.10.14).

The late ‘Mrs Doubtfire’ star was a huge fan of the baseball team so ahead of their World Series game against Kansas City Royals yesterday, his children Zak, Zelda and Cody – who all wore team jerseys with their surnames on the back – and close friend Billy Crystal were invited out onto the AT&T Park playing area.

Zak threw the first pitch to Billy, who stood at the home plate, and a visual montage of Robin’s movies interspersed with pictures of him and Giants stars was shown on the big screens in the stadium.

His kids said in a statement: "We are honoured to be here in tribute to our father, someone who loved his hometown and especially the Giants.

"For all of us, it is a tremendous delight and a little surreal to throw out the ceremonial first pitch of a World Series game for our team to our dad’s best friend. We could not think of a better way to celebrate his memory. Let’s go Giants!"

And Billy later told fans he had had a "great night" at the game.

He tweeted: "Great nite at WS in SF. Caught first pitch strike thrown by Zak Williams Robins son.Fans showered him with love. (sic)"

The Giants went on to win the game 11-4.

Robin was found dead in an apparent suicide in August, aged 63.
