Christian Bale confirmed to play Steve Jobs

Christian Bale has been confirmed to play Steve Jobs in an upcoming biopic.

The ‘Dark Knight Rises’ actor will take on the role of the late Apple co-founder – who lost his battle with pancreatic cancer in October 2011 – in an upcoming movie, and Aaron Sorkin, who is writing the script for the as-yet untitled film, admitted the actor didn’t even have to audition for the role.

He told Bloomberg TV: "We needed the best actor on the board in a certain age range and that’s Chris Bale.

"He didn’t have to audition. Well, there was a meeting."

The 53-year-old scriptwriter has admitted the role will be "incredibly difficult" to play because Bale will appear in every scene in the Danny Boyle-directed motion picture, but he expects the Hollywood actor to "crush it".

He added: "He has more words to say in this movie than most people have in three movies combined.

"There isn’t a scene or a frame that he’s not in. So it’s an extremely difficult part and he is gonna crush it."

Sorkin previously revealed the movie will be split into three huge parts of Jobs’ life – the launch of the Mac computer, the start of his computer company NeXT and the birth of the iPod.

He said: "It’s a little like writing about the Beatles. There are so many people out there that know him and revere him."

Leonardo DiCaprio is rumoured to have turned down the role leaving the path clear for Bale.
