Leonardo DiCaprio has produced a gorilla documentary that will air on Netflix.
The ‘Wolf of Wall Street’ actor has teamed up with the subscription TV service to create ‘Virunga’, a documentary that explores a gorilla preservation at the Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie-documentary follows a group of park rangers who are trying to protect the endangered primates from poachers, and the superstar environmentalist has overseen some very "gripping" footage.
In a statement, Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s chief content officer said: "Leo intuitively understands that there is nothing like the power of film to reach people’s hearts and minds.
"With ‘Virunga’, we’ll work with Leo to introduce viewers around the world to an incredible, gripping story that will have audiences guessing right up until the final act."
It’s not the first time Leonardo has spoken out on environmental issues.
In September, the 39-year-old actor spoke at the UN climate summit to encourage the world to take global warming more seriously.
Speaking at the event, Leonardo said: "I am not a scientist, but I don’t need to be. Because the world’s scientific community has spoken, and they have given us our prognosis, if we do not act together, we will surely perish."
‘Virunga’ will be available on Netflix and in theatres in Los Angeles and New York from November 7.
