Sigourney Weaver ‘feels sorry’ for Katherine Hepburn

Sigourney Weaver "feels sorry" for actresses who don’t have children.

The ‘Alien’ star – who has 24-year-old daughter Charlotte with husband Jim Simpson – thinks career success pales into insignificance when compared with the feeling of being a mother.

Asked if she can identify with women who choose their careers over having kids, she said: "I feel sorry for women like Katherine Hepburn. She might have won four Academy Awards but she never got to enjoy what it is to be a mother. I find that very sad."

The 64-year-old actress insists Hollywood bosses shouldn’t make allowances for women with children and having a good support network is the key to delivering personal and professional life.

She added to HELLO! magazine: "It’s not Hollywood’s responsibility to worry about a woman’s choice to become a mother.

"I have a wonderful husband who’s helped out a lot when I was working. I think teamwork is key if you want to have a career in Hollywood."

Though Sigourney is preparing to turn 65, she isn’t upset about reaching the milestone age.

She said: "I’m healthy, happy and looking forward to it.

"Turning 65 doesn’t mean my life is over. It’s just another exciting chapter."
