Casey Affleck to produce and star in Boston Strong

Casey Affleck is working on a new film about the Boston Marathon bombing.

The ‘Gone Baby Gone’ actor is set to produce and star in the new film about the event in 2013.

Variety reports that the movie – entitled ‘Boston Strong’ – will be based on the book by Casey Sherman and Dave Wedge, which has subsequently been adapted into a script by Eric Johnson and Paul Tamasy, who wrote ‘The Fighter’.

The plot of the new film focuses on the manhunt sparked by the 2013 bombing, which attracted worldwide media attention, while the movie itself will mark Affleck’s first full producer credit since ‘I’m Still Here’, starring Joaquin Phoenix.

Affleck – the younger brother of Oscar-winning writer Ben, 42 – is currently filming ‘The Finest Hours’, which is based on another book written by Sherman.

However, he will next be seen on screen in Christopher Nolan’s ‘Interstellar’.

In a recent interview, Nolan said his new movie is like "a mirror image" of ‘Inception’.

Nolan, 44, explained the film was inspired by sci-fi movies from his childhood.

Speaking to Empire magazine, the director said: "It expands out in the way Inception contracts inwards, it’s a very classically constructed movie, but the freshness of the narrative elements really enhance it.

"I liken it to the blockbusters I grew up with as a kid, family films in the best sense: edgy, incisive, challenging."
