Lord Alan Sugar doesn’t lose any sleep over The Apprentice sackings

Lord Alan Sugar doesn’t lose any sleep over firing candidates on ‘The Apprentice’.

The 67-year-old business magnate has confessed he doesn’t fail to get a good night’s sleep after sending potential future partners home on the BBC One reality series because he claims they bring it on themselves.

Quizzed on whether the friction in the boardroom ever keeps him awake at night, he said: "I don’t have any sleepless nights, no. It’s friction amongst them isn’t it? It’s not friction for me."

And Lord Sugar’s right hand man Nick Hewer – who along with Karren Brady follows the candidates as they attempt to complete various business tasks in a bid to win a £250,000 investment – certainly hasn’t been losing out on sleep either, as he’s admitted it was exhausting trying to keep up with all 20 of them.

Referring to the decision to have 20 candidates rather than the usual 16 in celebration of the 10th anniversary, Nick said at ‘The Apprentice’ launch at London’s Ham Yard Hotel: "It makes life very difficult for those following them. When you try and follow ten people for three days, writing about everything and everything everybody says to everybody else and trying to work out whether it’s honest, the reactions honest. It’s tough.

"Please don’t do it again."

Agreeing with Nick, Lord Sugar added: "I don’t think we’ll be doing it again next series. Maybe for the 20th anniversary."

‘The Apprentice’ series 10 kicks off with a double bill on Tuesday October 14 followed by a second episode on Wednesday October 15, after which it will air on Wednesdays at 9pm.
