Simon Cowell wants British accent for baby

Simon Cowell thinks it would be "odd" if his baby had an American accent.

The 54-year-old music mogul is expecting his first child with New York socialite Lauren Silverman and he has admitted he wants his heir to adopt his British accent.

Speaking to BANG Showbiz at the ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ auditions at London’s Hammersmith Apollo on Tuesday (11.02.14), he said: "That’s true, I would like him to have a British accent. I’m British. I haven’t thought about it a lot, but it would be quite odd, me being a Brit having a baby with an American accent."

The ‘X Factor’ star confirmed that his tot will be born in New York and is confident he will be a good father.

Quizzed if he’s ready for fatherhood, Simon confidently claimed: "Of course. I’m good with kids and he’ll be well looked after."

But don’t expect a member of Simon’s biggest music act One Direction to be named godfather to his son, as he couldn’t choose between the five-piece, consisting of Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson.

He said: "If you ask one you’ve got to ask all five, so I don’t think I could do that."

Simon also revealed that his ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ co-stars Alesha Dixon and David Walliams – both new parents – haven’t offered him any parenting tips as he prepares for the imminent arrival of his bundle of joy.

He exclaimed: "None. They’ve given me none at all. Nothing."
