Nikki Reed has adopted a baby rat.
The ‘Twilight’ actress, who is dating ‘The Vampire Diaries’ star Ian Somerhalder, is "obsessed" with animals and has built a special guest house on her property in Los Angeles for her growing family of rescue pets.
The 26-year-old beauty told PEOPLE.com: "I’m on my way to pick up my new baby rat. I’m animal obsessed! I basically have a farm in my house."
She added: "I do feel like by buying rats from a pet store, you are saving them because if not, they would get fed to a snake or something."
The actress owns two horses, two German shepherds and four other dogs, but also regularly provides temporary shelter for foster pets.
The ‘Murder of a Cat’ star said: "Animals are my life. My mom and I built a guest house on my property so that my mom could help me fostering animals. I do multiple fosters a month. Sometimes I get a litter of nine puppies and put them in a nursery I created. And in the backyard, I also have an outdoor set-up that’s actually enclosed so the hawks can’t get to it."
