Bryan Singer to direct X-Men: Apocalypse

Bryan Singer will direct ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’.

The 49-year-old – who has worked on three previous instalments of the Marvel franchise – will return as the director of the next movie, Deadline reports.

Bryan previously directed ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ which was released earlier this year. The film received worldwide acclaim and quickly became the most successful movie in the franchise’s series, grossing more than $745 million.

As yet, no firm details of the film’s storyline have been revealed, although it has been reported the new Marvel movie will see the X-Men battle against a new villain who is determined to put a stop to humanity with an apocalyptic scenario.

Not only will viewers get to see this new enemy, it has also been suggested that young versions of Cyclops, Storm and Jean Grey will feature in the blockbuster.

‘Last King of Scotland’ star James McAvoy recently revealed that he will be shaving his head and going completely bald for the 20th Century Fox sequel, as he assumes the iconic character, Professor Xavier.

Simon Kinberg has scripted the film from a story penned by himself alongside director Bryan, Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris.

Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult and Evan Peters will all be returning for Apocalypse, which is slated to be released on May 27, 2016.
