The Golden Globes Awards ceremony will be held on Jan 11, 2015. George Clooney is one of the honoured actors, who will receive the Cecil B. DeMille for “his outstanding contributions both in front of and behind the camera”, in the words of one of the organisers.
According to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), the 53-year-old actor was being recognised “as much for his global humanitarian efforts as he is for his accomplishments in the entertainment industry”.
It is not the first time that Clooney goes to the Golden Globes, having already won three of them, including best actor for “The Descendants” and “O Brother, Where Art Thou?”.
The american actor and producer has an extensive career. He became known for the series “E.R.” where he was playing the role of a doctor. Since then, he has made more than 40 films and built a strong career as producer and director.
The Cecil B. DeMille award was first presented on February 21, 1952 at the 9th Annual Golden Globe Awards ceremony and takes its name from its first recipient, the American film director and producer Cecil B. DeMille.
Former recipients of this award include Robert Deniro, Martin Scorsese, Robin Williams and Steven Spielberg. Woody Allen was also honoured by this award on the last year Golden Globe Awards ceremony.
