Chris Pratt unsure of playing a superhero

Chris Pratt never imagined himself playing a superhero.

The 35-year-old actor stars as Peter Quill aka Star Lord in James Gunn’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ and he’s revealed he never saw himself taking on that kind of role when he began his career in acting.

Commenting on whether he had to prove himself in his audition, he said: "I’m not sure that I even saw myself in this kind of a role.

"What’s really nice about this movie is that I believe we did something that’s never been done before … So, maybe people wouldn’t have seen me in this role, but that’s because they weren’t able to have the vision that James [Gunn, director] had for what this could be."

Pratt – who is best known for having parts in ‘Zero Dark Thirty’ and comedy series ‘Parks and Recreation’ – admits he was questioning what direction to take in his career before signing on to star alongside Zoe Saldana and Dave Bautista in GOTG.

He told Collider: "At the time [of my audition], I had been having an identity crisis, as an actor. I didn’t know what I was and whether I was an action guy or a comedy guy.

"I thought, ‘Maybe I could do a combination of both, but there’s nothing out there that’s like that. Maybe I have to develop something’. And my manager just kept saying, ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’. So, I said, ‘Maybe you’re right. Let’s go meet on it’. And then, James said, ‘I just want somebody to do their thing’."
