Kevin Feige: New Daredevil will be ‘best’ yet

Netflix’s ‘Daredevil’ series will be the "best incarnation" of the character yet.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige says the comic book brand’s TV arm has lofty ambitions for the new adaptation following a critically panned Ben Affleck-starring 2003 movie based on the blind superhero.

Speaking to BANG Showbiz, he said: "The goal on the ‘Daredevil’ series is to now make the best incarnation of Daredevil that has ever existed."

Kevin – who oversees all of Marvel’s movies including ‘The Avengers’ – says there may be some crossover between Marvel TV’s five new shows and Marvel Studios’ cinematic releases.

However, the top priority is to make the best show possible.

He explained: "I think they are being very, very smart in approaching those shows in the way we approach movies, which is, focus on what you are working on first and make it as great as it can be -beginning, middle and end – and then look to see if there are places where it makes sense for some interweaving of continuity."

‘Daredevil’, which stars British actor Charlie Cox and Hollywood siren Rosario Dawson, is the first of five Marvel series to air on Netflix beginning in 2015.

Marvel will also produce three other shows based on lesser-known characters Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage, before uniting them all for a miniseries called ‘The Defenders’.
