The Face axed by Sky Living

‘The Face’ has been axed by Sky Living after one series.

Naomi Campbell’s modelling competition will not return for a second run due to poor ratings and a high budget.

‘The Face’, which also stars supermodels Erin O’Connor and Caroline Winberg, launched to a lowly 132,000 viewers last September and Sky bosses aren’t willing to fund another series of the expensive reality show.

An insider told The Sun newspaper: "Sky Living is spending the money on new dramas and comedies instead."

Naomi, 44, had high hopes her show – which features three models mentoring teams of aspiring wannabes – would be a huge hit and Sky Living expressed initial faith in the show by axing its other modelling competition, ‘Britain and Ireland’s Next Top Model’, after nine series in favour of the fresh format.

The source added: "This is a massive blow for Naomi because ‘The Face’ has been her 100 per cent focus.

"She genuinely believed it would become a format that would stick around in the same way ‘Next Top Model’ and ‘The X Factor’ have. Dropping the show after just one series is humiliating for her."

Naomi can take some solace in the fact ‘The Face’ is still on air in America and Australia.
