Sylvester Stallone set for Scarpa

Sylvester Stallone is set to star in mob movie ‘Scarpa’.

The veteran actor will play real-life hitman Gregory Scarpa, known as ‘The Grim Reaper’, in Brad Furman’s long-planned project, according to The Wrap.

The story, penned by ‘Goodfellas’ writer Nick Pileggi, focuses on the late mobster, who was an enforcer for the Colombo crime family, killing over 50 people before becoming an FBI informant when his own loved ones were murdered.

He then repented for his actions by undertaking secret missions like kidnapping a Ku Klux Klan member and getting him to confess to the whereabouts of the bodies of three civil rights workers killed in Mississippi.

In 1993, Scarpa pleaded guilty to three murders and died of AIDS in prison in 1994.

Stallone is going to be reunited with ‘Rocky’ producer Irwin Winkler, while Millennium’s Avi Lerner will act as producer.

The 68-year-old star will next appear in future blockbuster ‘The Expendables 3’ and self-help drama ‘Reach Me’.

He is also set to make a cameo in Robert Luketic’s female-focused spin-off, ‘Expendabelles’.
