Fantastic Beasts to be filmed in England

‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ will be filmed at the same location as ‘Harry Potter’.

Warner Bros. will shoot the film adaptation of the novel by author J.K. Rowling at its Warner Studios in Leavesden, southeast England, where all seven of the ‘Harry Potter’ movies were made, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The United Kingdom’s secretary of culture Sajid Javid made the announcement at a film industry event and Warner Bros. – who announced they’d be making the ‘Fantastic Beasts’ book into a movie last September – confirmed the news.

‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ is a companion book to the Potter series and features explorer Newt Scamander, who is also mentioned in the Potter books as the author of a wizard school textbook.

Rowling is writing her first ever screenplay for the film and although details of the plot have so far remained under wraps, the project – which is expected to be the first instalment in a new trilogy – is to be set in 1920s New York and will feature American and British wizards.

No director or cast announcements have been made as of yet.

‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ is scheduled for release in November 2016.
