Hollyoaks’ Lindsey Butterfield is to fall pregnant.
The junior doctor, played by Sophie Austin, will discover she’s expecting a baby later this month – but viewers will be left wondering if the father is her on/off boyfriend Joe Roscoe (Ayden Callaghan) or his brother Freddie (Charlie Clapham).
Lindsey shares the exciting news with Joe and the Roscoe clan, but Freddie – who had a fling with his brother’s lover earlier in the year – begins questioning if the unborn child is his.
Sophie told All About Soap magazine: "When I found out, my initial reaction was, ‘Oh my God, it could be anyone’s baby!’ But Lindsey is adamant it’s Joe’s. This is her way of getting things back on track and she’s going to fight hard for her family.
"But obviously she did sleep with Freddie, so that’s niggling away in the back of her mind as well."
Lindsey tries to convince Freddie the baby isn’t his, but it seems the soap hunk isn’t 100 per cent sure.
Sophie explained: "I think he believes that it’s his baby. He’s trying to add things up and confronts her, asking if the child is his. Lindsey tells him it’s got absolutely nothing to do with him and the baby is definitely Joe’s, but Freddie isn’t convinced."
