Britain’s Prince Charles will hold a celebration for Dylan Thomas at his house in Wales.
The heir apparent and the Duchess of Cornwall will host a reception at their Llwynywermod estate in Carmarthenshire, south-west Wales to mark 100 years since the birth of the poet who died of pneumonia in 1953.
The 65-year-old prince is the royal patron of the ‘Dylan Thomas 100 Festival’ an organisation which has set up numerous events to celebrate the poet’s life and works throughout 2014.
The royal couple – who are set to embark on a celebrating Wales ‘past, present and future" tour – are expected to be joined by singer Cerys Matthews at their home on the second day of their stay, reports the BBC.
The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall will also pay a visit to the newly restored Galilee Chapel at St Illtud’s Church in Llantwit Major to see one of the most important collections of Celtic Christian stones in the UK.
Duchess Camilla, 66, will take a trip to the Welsh National War Memorial in Cathays Park, Cardiff, to raise awareness of memorials that are at risk of theft and vandalism.
During her stay in Cardiff, she will also visit staff and patients and the University of Wales Hospital’s biomechanics and bioengineering centre.
