Cybermen return to Doctor Who

‘Doctor Who’ fans were delighted to catch a glimpse of Cybermen on set at the weekend.

The Friary in Cardiff city centre was filled with the terrifying silver robots as new Time Lord Peter Capaldi, joined by newcomer Michelle Gomez and returning Jemma Redgrave – who previously appeared in 50th anniversary episode ‘The Day of the Doctor’ as Kate Lethbridge-Stewart – filmed a narrow escape from the sinister enemies.

According to online reports, Kate tried to prove her credentials by confronting the Cybermen, but things go wrong and the Doctor has to order everyone to back away.

During a break from filming, Peter was happy to sign autographs and pose for pictures with fans who were watching filming, while extras from the show were also queuing up to get their photographs taken with the Cybermen.

Jenna Colman, who stars as the Doctor’s companion Clara Oswald, did not seem to be on set.

The new series of the show returns to BBC One on August 23.

Michelle’s role on the sci-fi series has just been announced and she is thrilled to have joined the cast.

She said: "Well of course Peter Capaldi is our next Doctor, which makes complete sense. I’m thrilled to join him. Well, you would be, wouldn’t you?"

Showrunner Steven Moffat added: "I’ve known Michelle for years, and I’m thrilled to welcome her to Doctor Who. She’s everything we need – brilliant, Scottish, and a tiny bit satanic.
