‘Coronation Street’ legend Jean Alexander was rushed to hospital following a health scare.
The 88-year-old actress, who played Weatherfield cleaner Hilda Ogden for 23 years, has since been allowed to leave, but is understood to still be receiving treatment.
Neighbours have told of their shock when an ambulance arrived at Jean’s Southside home in Merseyside to answer a 999 call.
A local resident told said: "The ambulance crew came to her home. I saw it right outside her house last week. I hope she’s okay."
Another added: "This is a complete shock".
The veteran soap star recently revealed she was experiencing health problems common among people of her age.
She said: "I have got osteoporosis and I have lost four inches in height. I used to be 5ft 4in, now I’m just 5ft. But this is what happens.
"I can get down on my knees when I’m in the garden – but if I get down then I can’t get up again."
Jean left ‘Corrie’ in 1987 and joined ‘Last of the Summer Wine’, playing Auntie Wainwright from 1988 until the series came to an end in 2010.
