Demi Lovato reveals her grandfather was gay

Demi Lovato has revealed her grandfather was gay.
The ‘Skyscraper’ singer – who is a vocal LGBT rights campaigner – was inspired by her late family member’s bravery to come out in the ’60s and has adopted his "spirit" to fight for the cause.
Demi made the revelation as she presented an award at Logo TV’s first Trailblazers Awards to the ‘Orange Is The New Black’ cast last night (24.06.14).
She said: "I’ve never spoken about this before, but my grandfather was a trailblazer himself.
"He was brave enough to come out in the 1960s, and I feel that a lot of my spirit has come from him. He passed away a few years later and I only wish he could have been able to see all the progress that has been made."
The 21-year-old star – who was named the grand marshal of Los Angeles’ gay pride earlier this month and is set to perform at New York’s gay pride festivities over the weekend – also thanked the LGBT trailblazers for accepting her in to the community.
She said: "It’s such an honor to be welcomed and embraced by the LGBT community, so thank you very much."
During the star studded event held in New York City former president Bill Clinton also honoured Edie Windsor, whose lawsuit against the federal government led to the Supreme Court overturning the Defense of Marriage Act in June last year.
Demi wrote on Twitter at the time: "Gay, straight, lesbian, bi….. No one is better than anyone else. What an incredible day for California AND for equality."
