June Brown won’t quit EastEnders

June Brown has vowed to never quit ‘EastEnders’.

The 87-year-old soap legend says she is more likely to "die first" than quit her role as Walford busybody Dot Branning.

She said: "I’ll probably die first and they’ll take me out in a box."

Devout Christian June relayed her wishes for her burial, explaining: "I want to be buried at sea. I don’t want people talking about me. I want a plain ordinary service and [to] be dropped at sea … and I want to be in a white shroud, I don’t want to be dressed up looking as if I’m going out for dinner and I don’t want any make-up on."

The actress, who has played soap icon Dot since 1985, also confessed she often changes her character’s lines to reflect her own Christian views.

Appearing on BBC’s ‘Sunday Morning Live’, she said: "I think you should play characters as they are written but the scriptwriters don’t always write the prayers and behaviour of a Christian into it.

"I can tell if a script has been written by an agnostic or atheist, and I’m afraid I have changed the scripts. My faith has changed Dot. She was a ‘kindergarten Christian’ – someone who thinks of god as a bearded man in the sky – but I have strong faith.

"I will fight to keep Dot how she is now because I am 87 and I say what I think."
