Peyton Reed will direct ‘Ant Man’.
The ‘Bring It On’ director has been called in to helm the picture – based on the 1960’s comic book – after Shaun of the Dead’s Edgar Wright dropped out in May, reports Variety.
Adam McKay – who will contribute to the script – was also rumoured to replace Wright, who had been in talks with Marvel to pen the film since 2006, but pulled out "due to differences in their vision of the film."
Reed, 49 – who is due to start work on the movie this autumn – also developed Marvel’s ‘Fantastic Four’ and his most recent film ‘Yes Man’ (2008) starring Jim Carey grossed over $223.2million worldwide.
Meanwhile, Paul Rudd is set to star in the flick as the superhero ‘Ant Man’ with Michael Douglas playing his mentor Dr. Hank Pym.
Evangeline Lilly, Corey Stoll, Michael Pena and Patrick Wilson will also appear in the action adventure which is due out in July 2015.
The movie will be part of Marvel’s ‘Phase 3’ storylines, following the release of ‘The Avengers: Age of Ultron’ in May 2015.
It’s likely Rudd will also join the third ‘Avengers’ movie, starring alongside Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Chris Evans (Captain America) and Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk).
