Catherine and William visit whisky distillery

Britain’s Duchess Catherine and Prince William will visit Scotland today (29.05.14) where they will bottle their own malt whiskey.

The royal couple, who will carry out their first official engagement since returning from their tour of Australia and New Zealand a month ago, will head to the Famous Grouse Distillery, where they will be handed a strong shot of Scotland’s beloved national drink and attend a reception, along with being given the chance to bottle their own whisky to take away with them.

The pair will open the new-look Famous Grouse Experience, a visitor attraction which sees more than 100,000 people flock to the Glenturret distillery every year.

Ahead of their visit, they will stop by Strathearn Community Campus in the county to meet young carers, before visiting representatives from the Scottish Air Ambulance and the newly restored MacRosty Park in Crieff to unveil a new plaque.

Catherine, 32, and William, 31, who are said to be leaving their 10-month-old son Prince George at home in London, will later view the local wares on sale at the Forteviot fete and chat to local people in a nearby chapel.

The last time the pair visited Scotland was in April last year when they joined the Prince of Wales at Dumfries House in East Ayrshire to open a new outdoor centre.
