Kacey Musgraves baffles fans with mystery cancellation

Kacey Musgraves has left fans baffled after cancelling a string of tour dates without explanation.

The 37-year-old star had announced her Middle of Nowhehere tour back in April, but fans have received emails advising three shows have been axed with just weeks to go, including the opening-night performance in Chicago on 20 August, Boston in August 29, and Brooklyn on 2 September.

A Reddit user shared a screenshot of the cancellation email they had received.

It read: Please be advised that the Kacey Musgraves concert scheduled for Saturday, August 29, 2026 at TD Garden has been canceled. We apologize for any inconvenience.

“All tickets will be automatically refunded to fans at their original point of purchase. Please allow 7-10 business days for refunds to process.”

Each of the cities affected by the cancelled dates were hosting multiple nights for the singer, with tickets still available for alternative dates.

A representative for Kacey has yet to comment on the change, nor has the country singer herself.

The tour is in support of the singer’s new album Middle of Nowhere, the follow-up to 2024’s Deeper Well, and she recently discussed the playful single Dry Spell, which isn’t her grandma’s “favourite” track.

Asked for her favourite lyric on the LP, she told Variety: “I’ve never talked about self-pleasure before.

“So that’s a first for me: ‘Sitting on the washing machine.’ It’s not my grandma’s favorite line, but it’s mine, I guess.”

The music video for the cheeky tune is set in a supermarket filled with phallic fruit, and Kacey admitted her grandmother hadn’t seen that yet, even if she understands the song.

She revealed: “I don’t know if she’ll laugh. Actually, in the middle of filming the video, I got a text from my dad that Nana had to be rushed to the hospital.

“She had a really scary extreme high blood pressure incident. So I had to leave and I was on the call, crying, like, ‘If Nana lives, she’s gonna hate this video!’”

Kacey explained that the very honest song about her actual dry spell – which ended after “a year and a half, maybe” – was written to combat people “trying to convince you how much they’ve got going on in that department”.

She said: “I just wanted to let people know how little I had going on. It can get really comfortable and easy to stay that way, because you start feeling really protective of bringing transient energy in.

“Like, ‘I’m really peaceful right now. This may or may not make anything better.’

“But then you’re like, ‘Ugh, but I wanna have some fun.’ You really start weighing out: Is it worth it?”
