Limp Bizkit hit by ‘noise complaint’ by comedy troupe Broken Lizard

Broken Lizard crashed Limp Bizkit’s gig at the Summer of ’99 And Beyond Festival to issue a “noise complaint”.

The comedy troupe stormed the stage dressed as their Super Troopers characters over the weekend, as Fred Durst and the rest of the nu metal pioneers headlined the opening night of Creed’s festival in Tinley Park, Illinois.

Towards the end of the show, members of the comedy group appeared in costume as Vermont state troopers, and pretended to shut down the gig because it was too loud.

Not everyone in the crowd realised the whole thing was a setup, but at one point a member of the troupe – who are promoting the upcoming release of Super Troopers 3 – shouted: “Shut up, all you chicken-f*****s. With these lights on, I can see all you chicken-f*****s there.

“You’re a chicken-f*****, you’re a chicken-f*****. All of you up there are chicken-f*****s.”

Eventually, the troupe abandoned the fake noise complaint and stayed up on stage with Limp Bizkit as they closed their gig with Break Stuff.

The nostalgic festival saw Creed headline the second night on Sunday (19.07.26), with other nostalgic acts on the bill including Hoobastank, Puddle of Mudd and Cypress Hill.

Last month, Limp Bizkit guitarist Wes Borland insisted the band are “the biggest we’ve ever been right now”, in the wake of their first ever Download Festival headline slot.

As well as that success, they have also had a resurgence online.

Wes told Gear4musicguitars: “We’re the biggest we’ve ever been right now [as well]. It’s crazy.

“And I’m not saying that in a cocky way. I’m saying that, like, we can’t believe it.

“It’s just been — we’re so lucky. I don’t know exactly how it happened, but I think people… We just get along so well now, and everybody, we’re adults, and we’re still having fun doing it, and I think that translates to the audience.”

Wes also noted how their schedule feels busier than ever.

He added: “I don’t know whether it’s TikTok or nostalgia or what it is, but we’ve been busy, busy, busy.”

There had also been spike in streaming numbers after bass player Sam Rivers passed away, while Wes admitted he still struggles to speak about their loss.

He told Consequence: “He was like family. I’m gonna try not to cry. It’s just like we lost a piece of our DNA…

“It’s too hard to talk about right now in depth… He can’t ever be replaced. We’re so lucky for Richie [Buxton]… he’s such a great player, and he’s just a wonderful guy, and we’re gonna hold onto him for as long as we can.”
