Lil Wayne feels ‘humbled’ after Grammys snub

Lil Wayne has found being “uninvited” to Coachella and the Grammys to be a “humbling” experience.

The 43-year-old rap star has taken to social media to reflect on his absence from the landmark events, explaining that he’s been “uninvited” and “uninvolved”.

Wayne wrote on X: “It’s truly a humbling experience when events like Coachella and the Grammys come around and like clockwork,I’m uninvited and uninvolved. I appreciate my position or space I hold in ya heart and mind if so bc you’re the humbling experience that’s timeless and 4dat I thk u. Iaint****withoutu (sic)”

Wayne’s post prompted a response from Fred Durst, the Limp Bizkit frontman.

He said: “let’s start our own experience gathering and our own acknowledgment event to welcome all of the uninvited – i’ve got a couple ideas i’ve been working on for quite some while now – happy to elaborate if ever interested – sending good vibes (sic)”

Last year, Wayne announced that he will never play a Super Bowl Halftime Show, after repeatedly being overlooked for the role.

The rap star also claimed that he’s refused to network with some leading industry figures in order to land the gig.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, Wayne explained: “If you notice, I was a part of things I’ve never been a part of. Like [Michael] Rubin’s all-white parties. I’m doing s*** with Tom Brady. That was all for that. You ain’t never seen me in them types of venues. I ain’t Drake. I ain’t out there smiling like that everywhere. I’m in the stu’, smokin’ and recording.”

Wayne also claimed that the NFL apologised to him directly after he was overlooked for the Halftime Show in favour of Kendrick Lamar. However, he noted that the NFL aren’t ultimately in charge of selecting the performer, either.

The Go D.J. hitmaker – who is one of the best-selling rappers of all time – said: “All of a sudden, according to them, they got curved. So, I’m going to have to just settle with whatever they say.”
