Adele to ‘record a new music’ ahead of Cry to Heaven acting debut

Adele is heading back into the studio to record a new song.

The 37-year-old singer-songwriter is to make her acting debut in Tom Ford’s upcoming historical drama movie Cry to Heaven – alongside Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ciarán Hinds, George MacKay, Mark Strong, and Colin Firth – and she is set to record a tune for the forthcoming film.

An insider told The Sun: “The movie is steeped in the opera world, so naturally, they wanted the world’s most famous singer involved.

“When she finally agreed to record a track, the producers were ecstatic. Getting new material from Adele is like gold dust.

“But she is absolutely determined to prove she has the acting chops on camera to match her powerhouse vocals.”

Adele is no stranger to recording a song for a movie soundtrack, after she previously sang the title track for James Bond film Skyfall in 2012.

What’s more, Adele is expected to pursue further acting roles going forwards, because movies can be more of a “structured routine” for the mother of one – who has 13-year-old son Angelo, with her ex-husband Simon Konecki – rather than world tours.

An insider added: “The plan is very much to focus on film. Though of course, music will always be there in some capacity.

“The truth is, an acting career is vastly more conducive to family life than being a touring musician.”

Adele previously admitted she signed up for a Las Vegas residency because she “hates touring” and wanted to keep life as “normal” as possible for Angelo.

In November 2024, as the Hello hitmaker brought her Weekends with Adele residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace to a close, she told the audience: “I chose to do a residency maybe because I f****** hate touring.

“But I chose to do a residency so I could keep his life normal. And I did do that. But I also wouldn’t change it for the world.

“I get to be with him [Angelo] on the weekends now because obviously he can’t always come. So I love you to bits. … Thank you for being patient for me.”

Adele also shared a special message for her fiance, US sports mega-agent Rich Paul, telling him at the time: “Thank you for always bigging me up and making me feel like I could do whatever I wanted to do.

“There’s been times when I’m too tired or I’m too emotionally drained … so I appreciate that.”
