Robbie Williams says his teenage daughter Teddy is already gearing up for a music career.
The former Take That star has revealed his and wife Ayda Field’s 13‑year‑old popstar-in-the-making is “raring to go” and already writing her own songs.
Speaking to The Sun’s Bizarre column, he said she’s miles ahead of where he was at her age.
He told the paper: “There won’t be an album from Ted before my next one. But she’s raring to go. She’s very, very talented. She’s got a wonderful voice and writes songs easily. She’s miles ahead of me when I was her age. And, you know, she’s a girl. They’re just smarter than boys, aren’t they? So, yeah, I’m incredibly proud of her. I can’t wait to see what she creates.”
However, Robbie admitted he’s cautious about putting her in the spotlight too soon.
He added: “I’ve always wanted her to come on stage and sing with me for like the last three years at least. But then you see other children of famous people get up and then just then pulled apart. And I’m just thinking, best to wait a bit. I wouldn’t want to kill the confidence before it starts.”
Earlier this year, the Angels hitmaker – who also has Charlie, 11, Coco, seven, and six-year-old Beau with his actress spouse – admitted his daughter was “desperate” for fame.
He told BBC Radio 2: “Ted in particular is so desperate for it.”
Robbie continued: “Now, when I was growing up in Stoke-on Trent, I was also incredibly desperate for it, whatever it was, you know, watching Top Of The Pops on Thursday and thinking, how the hell do I get in that box in the corner of this room and be one of those people?
“But I’ve never seen it so acute as I do with Ted. She sent me a text the other day. And it goes, let me get this. It says – this was Thursday, six minutes past two in the morning, ‘Dad, what if I’m not a singer? It’s my biggest fear not to be a singer. What if I’m nothing?’”
