Tiffany reveals real reaction to hearing I Think We’re Alone Now in Stranger Things

Tiffany “had no idea” I Think We’re Alone Now would appear in Stranger Things.

The 54-year-old 80s pop icon admitted she was pleasantly surprised when she heard her classic song in the Netflix sci-fi show’s fifth and final season in November 2025, and she’s loved seeing the impact of the tune reaching “new fans”

She told Attitude magazine: “Professionally, it’s exciting – it brings new fans to my shows. Personally, it’s emotional.

“It’s like watching your child grow up and travel the world. I had no idea they were using it in the show until it happened.

“I’m a huge fan of the show and I had all my girlfriends messaging me when it aired. My son thought it was pretty cool too – we share a love for sci-fi!”

Tiffany has also been grateful to see the lasting impact of the track, and she’s glad to see the song resonate with “a new generation”.

She added: “It’s wild and beautiful. When I recorded I Think We’re Alone Now, I had no idea it would have this kind of life.

“To see it pop up in something like Stranger Things and connect with a new generation – that’s magic.

“It reminds me that music doesn’t expire. Songs find the people who need them.”

During season five of the nostalgic sci-fi series, Vecna takes Holly Wheeler (Nell Fisher) into the Upside Down, and Maya Hawke’s character Robin finds out the child’s favourite song I Think We’re Alone Now is her way back to reality, in a similar way to Kate Bush’s Running Up That Hill helping Max (Sadie Sink).

Tiffany’s song – which was originally written by Ritchie Cordell and released by Tommy James and the Shondells in 1967 – has also appeared in the likes of Pillion and season three of Yellowjackets.

Her version dropped in 1987, and hit the top of the charts around the world in the likes of the UK, US, Canada and New Zealand.
