Chappell Roan cuts ties with talent agency after CEO’s past emails with Ghislaine Maxwell resurface

Chappell Roan has cut ties with her talent agency after its CEO, Casey Wasserman, faced renewed scrutiny over email correspondence he exchanged with convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell more than two decades ago.

The Pink Pony Club singer announced the decision on her Instagram Stories on Monday (09.02.26), stating that she could no longer remain represented by Wasserman, the agency that bears his name.

Roan emphasised that the move was rooted in her commitment to ethical leadership and the well-being of the people who work alongside her.

She wrote: “As of today, I am no longer represented by Wasserman, the talent agency led by Casey Wasserman.

“I hold my teams to the highest standards and have a duty to protect them as well. No artist, agent or employee should ever be expected to defend or overlook actions that conflict so deeply with our own moral values.”

Roan’s statement arrives amid public backlash directed at Wasserman after old emails between him and Maxwell resurfaced online, prompting widespread criticism and calls for accountability. While the correspondence dates back more than 20 years, the renewed attention has placed pressure on the agency and its leadership.

In her message, Roan made clear that her decision was not a condemnation of the agents and staff who had supported her career, but a stand against leadership she felt no longer aligned with her values.

She continued: “I have deep respect and appreciation for the agents and staff who work tirelessly for their artists and I refuse to passively stand by.

“Artists deserve representation that aligns with their values and supports their safety and dignity. This decision reflects my belief that meaningful change in our industry requires accountability and leadership that earns trust.”

Roan has always been outspoken on issues of safety, equality and artist empowerment in the music business.

As of yet, Wasserman has not publicly responded to Roan’s announcement.
