Zayn Malik loved getting back to ‘pop’ on Jisoo collaboration Eyes Closed

Zayn Malik loved getting back to “pop” on his collaboration with BLACKPINK star Jisoo.

The former One Direction star recently teamed up on the ballad Eyes Closed with the K-pop star and said it was a huge “honour” to duet with an artist who is among those “owning that genre”.

Speaking as he hosted his own special slot on BBC Radio 1, he said: “I’ve wavered a little bit from the pop sound myself, so to come back to it with the people who are basically owning that genre at the minute was an honour.

“If I can say thanks to Jisoo, I’m really happy with the way it turned out.”

Zayn recently shared how his “cool collaborator” earned him some major dad points from his five-year-old daughter Khai, whom he has with his model ex, Gigi Hadid

He captioned a series of promo shots from the track on Instagram: “@sooyaaa__  Jisoo.. you’re an absolute legend, loved every part of this collaboration, thank you for making me the coolest dad around.”

Jisoo commented: “You already are.”

While he returned to pop for Eyes Closed, Zayn recently revealed his new album has Indian influences.

The Pillowtalk star promised that his fifth studio record is coming next year and suggested that it will be similar to his 2016 chart-topping solo debut Mind of Mine.

Zayn was quoted by The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column as saying during the livestream: “The next album is soon.

“I have been working on some cool s*** in South Asian music and bringing those influences into my music as well.

“It is like pop, R+B, and a lot of Indian influences. The record is like a continuation of Mind of Mine in that sense. I might have some songs coming out in Urdu, too.”
