The Rolling Stones’ pianist Chuck Leavell suggests European tour could be on the cards next

The Rolling Stones’ pianist Chuck Leavell has hinted that the band are keen to hit the road again.

The legendary rock ‘n’ roll band’s last jaunt was the 2024 Hackney Diamonds Tour, which saw Sir Mick Jagger and co trek across North America.

However, Leavell – who has played on every Stones album since 1983, sans 1997’s Bridges to Babylon – has suggested a tour of Europe could be next on the cards.

Speaking at the launch event for the re-issue of their 1976 album Black And Blue this week, Chuck was quoted by The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column as saying: “They don’t want to hang up the rock ’n’ roll shoes yet. There’s no doubt in my mind.

“We’ve done a good bit in the US the last few years, so I think the likelihood would be somewhere else and my best guess would be probably Europe.

“They’ve been recording. I’m sure there’s already some new music, and I’m sure it’s great.

“I also am very sure that the band wants to perform.”

Guitarist Ronnie Wood echoed the sentiment in September, when he said he was hopeful they would return to the stage.

He also confirmed the follow-up to 2023’s Hackney Diamonds – which saw them reunite with producer Andrew Watt – is ready to rock ‘n’ roll.

As quoted by The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column, Wood said at the group’s RS No9 shop in Carnaby Street: “Yes you will be getting a new album next year. It is done.”

On the possibility of new live dates, he added: “Yes we are hoping to do some dates. Hopefully we will be back out there but I am still waiting to find out myself.”
