FKA Twigs was blindsided by ‘catastrophic’ tour collapse

FKA Twigs was blindsided by the “catastrophic” collapse of her US tour.

The 37-year-old singer was forced to cancel all of her shows in North America as well as a performance at the Coachella music festival earlier this year because of visa problems and logistical issues – and she’s now admitted she was “kept in the dark about how bad it all was” until it was too late.

She told The Hollywood Reporter: “It was one of the most painful times of my career. Just the emotional and physical and financial ramifications that fell on FKA Twigs the business was catastrophic … We worked so hard on it [the show] … and it all slipped through my fingers like sand …

“It was so many small reasons why, but none were within my control. I was kept in the dark about how bad it all was. The flights and the visas and the stage advancing, none of it was done.

“And I don’t know how to do that because it’s not my job. But you know what? I’ve learned a lot.”

She added: “Now I know about buses and freighting; how many days it takes to get from New York to Mexico in a truck; how to get through customs.”

FKA Twigs explained she ended up moving nine members of her team of dancers into her home after their plans were shattered by the cancelled tour and they ended up working on a new version of the show which they could eventually bring to audiences.

She said: “My back was against the wall, and I came out kicking. I made a lot of music. I hunkered down, created and held people close to me.

“We lived together and danced and trained and brought the show back to life … I felt like I was weathering a storm and I turned something really horrific into something positive.”

At the time of the tour cancellation, FKA Twigs broke the bad news to fans in a video posted on X – formerly known as Twitter.

She explained: “Hi everyone, I wanted to come on here to talk to you and address some things that have been happening behind the scenes in my world.

“So as you may have seen I have been performing the ‘Eusexua’ tour in the UK and Europe and it has been absolutely incredible the reception and the crowd and the artistic expression. Everything has been just completely amazing. I feel so grateful to have been a part of such an amazing, creative process. “Behind the scenes, practically, it has been challenging, and with production, the more practical side of putting this tour together.

“So today I was informed that production did not fill out the correct paperwork in a timely manner for us to have our visas to come to the USA and perform.

“So that means by no choice of my own I will have to pull out of my New York, Chicago, and Toronto shows.

“For those of you who are wondering why I have to pull out of Toronto because it’s not part of the United States, it’s because of routing and just the complex beast that touring is.

“I don’t take this lightly. I’m completely devastated, to be honest with you. Completely heartbroken. All I want to do is be there with you and bring Eusexua’ to you.”

FKA Twigs went on to tour Europe and returned to North America for shows over the summer. She’s also booked in to perform at Coachella in 2026.
